Exciting Statistics from 2012

  • The event was completely volunteer-driven and lasted 39 nights and a total 168 hours of operation.
  • One million energy-efficient LED lights glowed brightly throughout the event, with the electricity costing less than $50 a night!
  • Over 30,000 vehicles drove through the display. Together with walking traffic, the number of visitors totaled over 100,000.
  • Over 13 tons of food was collected by 12 area food shelves.
  • Thirty-three businesses and non-profits entered floats in the parade and several thousand families came to see the parade and lighting ceremony on the opening night.
  • Cash sponsorships and in-kind donations were provided by at least 100 businesses and individuals.
  • Twenty-one area restaurants donated food to help feed the volunteers during the event.
  • Santa took requests in his workshop from little ones for over 50 hours.
  • Four live reindeer were on display from Thanksgiving until Christmas.
  • At least four marriage proposals took place during the event.
  • Nearly 10,000 volunteer hours went into producing the event, and over 1,000 volunteers helped.
  • Net proceeds were $36,800, and $22,000 (60%) will be donated back to the 53 nonprofits that assisted with the event. The remaining proceeds will go to improve the 2013 event.
